JR Bull Riding is a great way for young riders to get involved with rodeo.

Cowboys and Cowgirls need to be between the ages of 8-13 years old.

Participant Requirements:

  • MUST be between 8-13 years old as of January 1st, 2024.

  • MUST have a release signed by a parent or legal guardian(s).

  • Entry Fee of $30.00 paid in advance

  • Wear boots, long pants, a long-sleeve button-up shirt

Prize: The rider with the highest score from either Friday or Saturday will receive a

check. Payout will only be awarded to one rider. Riders will only ride one night.

Admission:  One complimentary general admission ticket will be given to the

parent or guardian to accompany the rider behind the chutes. One parent must be

with the rider at all times.

Please note: All JR Bull Riders must furnish their own riding gear, i.e. steer/bull rope,

vest, glove, rosin, and helmet etc. Helmets, rope, and gloves are at the option of the

parent/legal guardian but are strongly encouraged. Spurs are optional. The

Meridian Lions Rodeo only provides a helmet with a face mask for Mutton Busters.

The stock contractor does not provide any gear.

Mutton Busting

Sheep Contractor: Thompson Ranch

Clay Tully.png

We would like to thank our Sponsors Mick and Andrea Tully with the Clayton Tully Memorial Foundation. These new mutton busting chutes are dedicated to Clay, a Meridian Lions Rodeo Mutton Busting champ!

This pre-rodeo event is a crowd favorite! Sheep are loaded in the mini

bucking chutes just like the bucking horses and bulls. The “Little Buckaroos”

are loaded on their sheep and when they’re ready to ride, the chute is

opened and away they go!

Participant Requirements:

  • MUST be between 4-7 years old as of June 1st, 2024.

  • MUST be under 65 lbs

  • MUST have a release signed by a parent or legal guardian(s).

  • Entry Fee of $30.00 paid in advance

  • Wear closed-toe shoes, long pants, and long sleeve shirt

Prize: The rider with the highest score will win a buckle! A buckle will be

given out each night.

Admission: One complimentary general admission ticket will be given to

the parent or guardian of the rider.

Please note: All mutton busters must wear a helmet with a face mask. If you don't

have one, one will be provided from the Treasure Valley Rodeo to borrow.  A bicycle

helmet will not be permitted.
